Taeillo is on a mission to rebrand culture through design. I once read a quote by Taeillo, “Nobody is interested in our culture because we have not made it appealing”. This statement I believe is generational. We certainly have a lost culture. Especially this generation. I’m not even sure what to expect of generations after this.
Part of which is what Bellafricana is restoring, just as Taeillo says… the only way we can change this is to “Brand our culture positively and use it as a tool of influence”. And I couldn’t agree more.. Welcome to the Modern Africa.
A piece of Taeillo in your space speaks volume and leaves a renewed piece of a lost culture.
The Bellafricana ACE Awards 2017 day was marked and Nigeria remains breath-taking following the first and spectacular launch of Bellafricana ACE Awards 2017 which took place on the 17th of April, 2017 at D-Venue, Water Corporation Drive, Off Ligali Ayorinde, Lagos, Nigeria.
You can almost still feel the excitement in the air resonating from the crowds on the day to witness this laudable event, the first of its kind in Nigeria and the whole of Africa.
My eaves dropped at dinner last night and I heard someone ask “Why buy Nigerian?” with the main bone of contention being the quality of made in Nigeria products.
If you ask me, (even if you don’t I’d still tell you anyway) the concern of quality particularly is a little bit played out. Nigerians are not only becoming more innovative; most are also paying supreme attention to detail and quality.
In continuation of the role it plays in promoting Made-in-Nigeria quality products in the Nigerian economy by helping as many quality creative small businesses be at the forefront of the market, Bellafricana.com has also launched African Creative Exhibition and Awards (ACE Awards) to encourage those engaged in creating richer platforms.
The Founder, Bukky Asehinde, wonders, “Why should we wait on financial backing from the government and big institutions to help this industry? When we can create a platform to connect these Afrocentric businesses, they are maximising raw materials in Nigeria (Africa), providing employment for local talents within the country and creating wealth for the Nation”.
Early this year, I visited an Ibibio family home and was completely blown away by their home décor. They had really cool wicker furniture, which gave their living room a certain traditional essence.
After my visit, I kept wishing I could get some hand crafted furniture for my home too. Then a friend told me I can get some in the local markets.
The complete list of Bellafricana ACE Awards nominees have been released and it is with great pleasure to see that well deserving brands made it on…
Adding value and creating impact is a noble cause that should be awarded. This by no means undermines or belittles the efforts of the brands that weren’t nominated, far from it.
The management of Bellafricana is officially announcing their first edition of Bellafricana African Creative Exhibition and Awards coming up on the 17th of April, 2017. This Annual Creative Exhibition and Award (termed Bellafricana ACE Awards) is fully endorsed by Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC), Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce (NACC) and the Nigeria Britain Association.
The theme is “Celebrating Creativity and Innovation”, as it is time to encourage and reward the hardworking creative business owners for impacting lives and the economy.
I am a new convert to the “Shea butter as diaper cream department” and this is not because I downplay the effects of shea butter on the skin. I’m just one of those that will think of Mr Biggs before remembering Chicken Republic.
Natural is the new green, to some of you reading this, it probably sounds clichéd. You might scoff, roll your eyes even, and say ‘Oh Nike! Come on, of course nature has always been green!! What’s new about that?’
Well, natural hair has always been black, chestnut or whatever colour each individual is born with, *wink*. Also in nature, we have a vast variety of amazing beautiful colours existing naturally. Still it’s nature.
What am I driving at? Green is a symbol for a sustainable future. In Ecology, sustainability (from sustain and ability) is the property of biological systems to remain diverse and productive indefinitely. …
Our living spaces or working spaces are a reflection of who we are. If you don’t believe this, just do an assessment of your day to day activities in relation with the environment you spend most of your time and the outcome there of.
